My Coverage from CPAC
This past weekend I covered the Conservative glory festival that is CPAC here in Washington D.C. for crooksandliars.com. I wrote four articles and also helped to break the video of Andrew Breitbart freaking out on protesters. Here’s my coverage:
Day 1:
Bretibart: Crooks and Liars is a Radical Leftist Website - Ideological blowhard and consummate hypocrite Andrew Breitbart premiered the trailer for his upcoming video “exposing” Occupy Wall Street. I asked him and his director why he thinks this video will be successful, despite their previous fawning portrait of Sarah Palin “The Undefeated” being panned by critics and audiences. Breitbart gets angry and yells at me rather than answer the question.
Dispatch from CPAC: Day 1, Mitt Romney Called a Mexican - Notes from my first day at CPAC. I ask Rick Perry if he likes bourbon or scotch, Mitt Romney is called a Mexican when his name is mentioned and I interview the “last true member of the Tea Party.”
Day 2
Google Sponsors CPAC - Internet behemoth Google pays $20,000 to be a full sponsor of the ultra-conservative conference. Their booth was situated among other booths featuring guns, unborn fetus dolls and t-shirts showing Marines peeing on the dead bodies of Taliban.
Breitbart to Occupy Protesters: Stop Raping People - (by Diane Sweet) Shortly after being uploaded to YouTube, crooksandliars was one of the first to post this video of a wild-eyed Andrew Breitbart screaming at protesters like a child.
Day 3
Fred Karger vs. CPAC - Gay Republican Presidential candidate Fred Karger tells me how CPAC ignored his attempts to buy a booth to showcase his candidacy. In response, he filed a discrimination complaint with the DC Human Rights Commission.
Sarah Palin and Occupy Could Be Friends - In a pandering speech filled with cliches Sarah Palin wows the CPAC audience. But she also mentions crony capitalism, one of the tenets that helped spur the Occupy movement.
